About This Project

Ilona is a mulberry silk scarf brand that brings timeless feminine silk scarves to people seeking better hair health. Their products are meant to be heirloom, designed with fun patterns that give a laid-back, vintage feel.

The goal was to create something friendly, approachable, and youthful. Immediately, my mind went to California, as it was such an iconic place in the 70s, and I wanted to build upon that. Bringing in elements of nature, I opted to create a logo mark that incorporates the sun to show radiance and beauty. The hand-drawn sun emulates that inner self-knowing. Organically drawn edges reflect the ebb and flow of life. I meticulously designed a wordmark script, re-drawing it over and over again until I achieved the perfect balance. Together, the logo feels like a signature from an old friend — perfect for something meant to be heirloom.
